Vampires aren't suppsed to be gay
69Emo Vampires!?!
You know, I have always been a huge horror movie buff from being a little girl. I grew up on Hammer Horror films, the Christopher Lee Dracula etc... See, correct me if I am completely wrong here but on a culture that thrives on this 'good versus evil' lark, you have to sit and wonder why someone would turn a character that is pure evil, (AKA Vampires) into something that has 'emotions' and 'feeds on animals' because they have a 'mortal conscience.'
I mean, even Bram Stoker's Dracula had serious problems when it came to being 'good' but you know, you have to feel bad for Vlad in some form, given the fact that he just wanted to find his wife that killed herself... In the grand scheme of things, deep down, you wanted the ending where the Count won... Admit it!
You see, the problem with writers today is that they have turned a perfectly good concept of evil and turned it into something lame. Yeah, the whole dark, Gothic, bloodthirsty creature I grew up to know and love just for being evil has been sabotaged and made to look like some lame, washed up, 'lovey dovey' tripe that I really can't get my head around. What's worse is that the majority of these writers homing in on this Gothic culture are either Mormons or Christians.
I have nothing against Mormons or Christians, even the fanatics but honestly, both Mormons and Christians, devout that is, should NEVER PICK UP A PEN AND WRITE ABOUT VAMPIRES! In my opinion anyway. I have obviously read all of The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice from Interview With A vampire to Blood Canticle. I have also Read Stephanie Meyer's Twilight saga, I had to, mainly because I love vampires but unfortunately, after reading them, all I got out of it was disappointment.
Why you ask? Well COME ON! Isn't is blatantly obvious from beginning to end that their main focus was to promote their religion in one form or another!?! With Anne Rice it was 'Oh my! We feed on the evil doer and then find some sort of path to salvation yet wondering the purpose of why we are vampires! Yet we do it an anal way.' I am only going to touch on how much I dislike Anne Rice's writing because I could just rant about her for hours on end. Therefore I am just going to say that ALL of her characters portray her anally retentive way to show people how great she thinks she is! I mean, I counted the use of 'preternatural' and 'decorus' in The Vampire Lestat and lost count because I threw the book across the room. Yet people are all like 'OH WOW! She's sooooo amazing! Wow! Her characters are so great and she writes them well!' News flash people! Read ALL of her books, even the collaborations with Lives Of The Mayfair Witches, every single last character has the same personality. BORING! Oh and just a note here, she now writes books on Jesus! How does one go from one genre to 'the Jesus' genre?
Okay so I have just touched on Anne Rice because I don't want to go on about her as I just make myself angry. haha! Now Stephanie Meyers... She's a card... Mormon, placing the Mormon religion into her books... That's a new one!
What gets me the most about her writings are... Well everything, the characters themselves are just boring and annoying and yet all the Emo kids swoon and cry at the thought of Jacob and the Cullens,
VAMPIRES ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LAME! Love the 'no sex before marriage' thing just pushed in there. What!?! Imagine this, you're a vampire, you can turn anyone you want into a vampire and spend eternity with someone.... Why in the world would you want to get married!?! Marriage in real life gets a bit boring a few years in! An ETERNITY!?! Forget that, just another way to push the aspect of religion into everything.
Feeding on animals... What can I say!?! Actually as it turns out... A lot. Come on! Vampires are not meant to feed on animals! They are top of the food chain! Immortal! Why in the world would they be worried about their souls!?! (Besides the FOLKLORE that they ARE SOULLESS!) They are already damned! THEY CAN'T DIE! Why would they worry about dying to begin with!?!
I hate the hype most of all, all those little emo kids with their hands stapled to their foreheads that 'paint their nails black to reflect the darkness of their souls' all went mad for this... The whole franchise gives 10% to the Mormon church anyway. I refuse to sell out or 'buy in' as others would call it.
Not just that either, the characters are lame. The best characters are the Volturi and they're not even in the books that much. Same with Anne Rice, her best character was the little girl Claudia and she was killed off in no time.
All I can say is that a culture that has raised me to see vampires for evil, soulless, imposing, dark and Gothic creatures, has been invaded by lame gay vampires! My conclusion... Stake the lot of them! Haha!

Vampires are pretty lame these days.
You are awesome and I agree vampires are not supposed to be wusses. (I do like Anne Rices writing however) but the sparkly vamps suck.
I have not read the TrueBlood books but the show rocks, now those are vampires.
I also have to give props to the 1960s/70s gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. They had some cool vamps also.
I read the first Twilight book. I expected some hot and heavy action the way they were carring on about eachother. However it just left me hanging(pun intended) ;)
Me personally, like both the good, (gayside) of vampires as well as the evil, ( blood, now, make you my slave as I F*** with your mind) kind. I think it depends on the story, I guess. I will have to say I am on the fence here. My kids are big, edward, jacob fans but then again they are only 7, and 9. my oldest never got into it .
